CreatHers Networking Event: Network to Opportunities

CreatHers Networking Event: Network to Opportunities

Hi lovelies,

I am excited to announce that the next networking event is titled ‘network to opportunities’. Most of us have heard the importance of achieving and having a valuable network. Those we are associated and work with can help us grow and develop as individuals and as business people and entrepreneurs. They can also help us progress within our career.

Many successful people achieved their success through the opportunities they gained from others. Attending networking events, business seminars and employability workshops is easy, the difficult part is actually building sustainable and beneficial relationships with your fellow attendees, panelists and the like. Some attend such events with the aim of contacting associates afterwards, however, as soon as the final song is played and the lights turn off, the notion of contacting those they have met soon fade away.

Well, that’s where this event comes into play – the workshop will help you build confidence, learn how to network effectively and teach you how to create opportunities. The industry panelists will share their wealth of knowledge on the day and offer unique tips and advice on how they network and create invaluable opportunities for themselves and their brand.

There will also be vendors on the day showcasing and selling products you wouldn’t find on the high street.

The event will consist of three main sections:

  • A workshop
  • An industry panel discussion and Q&A
  • A dedicated networking section

To add, there will be one to one sessions available during the event with a television production and media professional. If you are passionate about the sector and seek career advice on relevant websites, opportunities, companies and organisations in regards to working in the field, speaking to the advisor will help.

With that being said, early bird tickets are on sale now at just £10.

You can book via the link below.

Shake Up Your Life With Some New Experiences

festivalMost of us have been at that point in life when we needed to make a decision whether to enrol in college or take a year off. Some people decide to start college right away because of parental pressure, the fear of time running out, or simply because they want to continue learning right away. However, there is nothing wrong with taking some time off to unwind, have fun, and improve yourself by doing things that don’t include sitting over a book for hours. Thus, if you’re looking for ways to gain new valuable experiences, here are some ideas to get you started.

Sign up for classes

If you’ve always wanted to learn how to dance or speak a foreign language but could never find the time, now you will have plenty of it. It doesn’t matter what you decide to learn, as long as you enjoy the whole process. With that in mind, look for the sort of classes that interest you in your city, and don’t hesitate to sign up – you’ll get to improve your knowledge, meet people who share your love for what you are learning, and add something valuable to your CV, which will definitely come in handy later.

Yoga

Face your fears

You cannot gain any new experiences if you’re afraid of stepping out of your comfort zone. Your fears are what’s keeping you from living your life to the fullest, so use your free time to conquer them. Take baby steps – start with something small and move on to scarier things. You might feel nervous at the beginning and it might not even go so well, but eventually, you will feel much more confident, and stepping out of your comfort zone will become an adventure rather than a nerve-racking ordeal.

Long path

See something new

Whatever you decide to do during your gap year, make sure to spend some time traveling as well. It’s a great way to see new places, get familiar with different cultures, and broaden your own perspective. If you’re looking for something more organized and entertaining, there are fantastic schoolies in 2018 that are guaranteed to help you recharge your batteries after all the studying. Moreover, you don’t even have to go far if you’re just looking for that feeling of seeing a new place for the first time; if you live in a big city – explore it; if not, go to the nearest city and see what it has to offer. Getting to know your own environment can be just as exciting as traveling abroad.

Surround yourself with the right kind of people

Great experiences often come from knowing great people, so make sure to surround yourself with friends that make you feel good about yourself. Don’t waste time on people who have no plans in life and are not interested in anything – after all, you are a reflection of the people you spend the most time with, and those kinds of friends won’t improve you in any way. Therefore, focus on those who share your interests and have similar aspirations in life, as they are more likely to support you, inspire you, and understand you.

Be kind

Some of the best experiences come from within, so use your free time to change your own habits. For example, try to spread kindness by doing one helpful act every day – feed a stray dog, give your old clothes to charity, help somebody carry their groceries, etc. You will feel much better about yourself, and as you start turning it into a habit, you will also notice people reacting to your actions and treating you with the same kindness that you show them. Of course, there will always be exceptions, but the point is that you can make a difference, as long as you keep a positive attitude.

Taking a year off is not the end of the world, as there are many ways in which you can use the time wisely and gain valuable experiences that you will cherish for life. Think about what you really want to do – travel, spend time learning something new, make new connections, or just relax. As long as you’re enjoying yourself and doing something productive, it will be time well spent.

Strolling in Park Lane – Candy Pop Fashion Look

Hi lovelies,

I had a blast this week strutting my stuff in Park Lane just by the Dorchester Hotel – ooohhh I felt so posh and classy just being in the area and being outside the Hotel. To top it off, I went to the Elan Cafe which I was really looking forward to. I was very excited to go to the cafe as the Instagram photos looked so lush. It was full of pink, floral decorations and luxurious looking chairs.  I had to go and so I did.

I went to the cafe with my brother and at first glance it is a lot smaller than I initially thought. However, the decor and the decorations were superb. Exactly what I imagined. Most people in London go to a cafe and order a hot drink, but I ordered a red velvet cake because I have such a sweet tooth. I usually don’t order hot drinks at cafes, but if I do it’s usually a hot chocolate with the occasion flavoured tea.

I feel like I belong in Park Lane. The environment, the look and feel of the area and the ‘richness’ – that’s me.

When I go to places like this I have to take photos and dress up and strut my stuff whilst i’m strolling in Park Lane. I call this look the Candy Pop fashion look because of the vibrant blue, purple, pink and yellow tones. It is very vibrant and the frills makes the top ‘pop’ even more.

The coat is definitely oversized and at first I didn’t like it but I have grown used to it. I actually prefer that it is over sized. The purple really stands out, it’s long and thick enough for winter and has a v-neck shape when you button it up. sometimes I wear a light weight scarf with it and do a bow tie. This time I decided to leave the coat unbuttoned.

I wore black ‘wet look’ jeggings to compliment the tunic top with kitten heels.

I don’t only wear colour during the spring and summer. I try to mix it up and so should you. I am all about colour.

X Factor Semi Finals 2017

Hi lovelies,

I went to watch the X Factor Semi Finals in the studio and it was a fabulous experience. The studio was buzzing with excited fans, audience members and loving family and friends of the contestants.

X Factor Semi Finals 2017

Everyone was shouting, dancing and clapping throughout the show. The atmosphere is certainly different from watching the competition at home with my brother. I went to see the show with said sibling and he absolutely loved it. He enjoyed watching the performances and was so excited to go to the VIP area in the hopes of meeting some of the contestants and congratulating them.

X Factor Semi Finals 2017

Watching the show in the studio was uplifting as somehow you can see how badly the contestants want to win. The venue is full of hope, ambition and aspirations. Those performing are living their dreams and you can tell they don’t want to wake up. My brother gets me to vote for Rak-Su and The Cutkelvins every weekend. I love the bands and so does he. They are unique and there is definitely a gap in the market for them. I believe that they will make a career out of this after the show ends.

The show goes so quickly when you’re watching as part of the studio audience, compared to being at home.

My brother met Dermot O’Leary which he was excited about. He was staring at him as he was walking past, AJ (my brother) said “Hi Dermot”, and he responded which was nice. We also met 1/3 of The Cutkelvins who spoke to us briefly and we told him that they were doing really well.

We weren’t allowed to take pictures during the show so unfortunately I don’t have many pictures to show you guys, but at least you get a feel of what the studio is like.

I got two tickets to see the X Factor as I was working at Thames TV, the production company that produces the show in collaboration with Syco (the production company Simon Cowell founded). You can also book tickets to be part of the studio audience for shows such as the X Factor via Applause Store. It’s completely free.

Self-Esteem During College & How It Can Mess with Your Life

having self-esteemSelf-esteem is one of the most important aspects of an individual’s personality that can shape their identity and affect their entire life. Adolescence is one of the crucial periods in a person’s life when their self-esteem can significantly decrease. This is a rather challenging time because of physical and psychological changes that occur, as well as the newly discovered perspective of the world and its challenges. During adolescence, a person also makes one of the most important steps in their life – going off to college. This is yet another challenging and exciting period that brings numerous changes that can have a major impact on their self-esteem and, thus, their entire life.

Pre-College: The Roots

students studying

Experience before enrolling in college can greatly influence one’s attitude towards the upcoming period and their belief in their abilities to cope with it well. A person who has been bullied throughout high school and become socially alienated might be anxious about going off to college. Since these individuals typically have low self-esteem, they might think that they won’t be able to fit in, which can affect their academic achievements. Individuals who are simply uncomfortable about changing their environment or have social anxiety can also start their college years alienated from others and depressed, thinking that they won’t be able to get through it.

On the other hand, hardworking students confident in their knowledge will be enthusiastic about college. If they have a healthy self-esteem, they will be more likely to achieve academic success. However, students who have fallen behind with their education might encounter major changes that might be too overwhelming. These individuals should start preparing for their entrance exams early on to avoid disappointment. This is particularly important for students who want to study medicine because they might be under the greatest pressure. They should ask for additional help to get through this stressful period and talk to their teachers or school psychologist to see if they can guide them through the process. If they don’t feel comfortable asking them for help, they can always prepare online by opting for a comprehensive UMAT tutoring or GAMSAT tutoring depending on their high school education. This way, they will feel more confident in their knowledge and abilities, which will lead to better academic performance.

College: The Problem

College experience itself can be quite stressful and overwhelming, affecting one’s self-esteem and general personal development. Even a person who has got into the desired college can be disappointed because it didn’t meet their expectations.  With their families and partners being on the other side of the continent, they might feel lonely, depressed and anxious. They can start focusing on negative outcomes, which will lower their self-esteem and self-satisfaction. All of this can impede their academic achievement and cause them to become socially withdrawn and wallow in self-pity.

Individuals who haven’t got into college can also lose their self-esteem. They start doubting themselves and feeling as if they weren’t in control of their life. They can give up from trying to get into college next year because they believe that they will fail again. Even if they do try, the belief that they will undoubtedly fail will be a major source of anxiety, which can lower their chances of success. Consequently, this will reinforce their low opinion of themselves that they can have for the rest of their lives.

You: What Matters

young woman in fields

If you’ve identified yourself with any of these cases, it’s time for you to stop and take an objective look at your life. You should talk openly with your parents who can provide you with help and support. Don’t focus solely on the negative aspects of your life because they will only bring you down and prevent you from overcoming the challenges that you come across. If necessary, you can even make a list of both positive and negative sides of your life. Take a look at what you can change and how you can improve your self-esteem and then take one step at a time. Not only will this help you get out of the vicious circle of self-pity, but it will also help you be more successful at college, meet new people and have a healthy relationship. If you keep being insecure, there are people who might take advantage of your insecurities. If you believe that you can’t do it on your own, you can always seek professional help. A counsellor or psychologist can always help you overcome this difficult period and become a stronger person.

Adolescence and college experience will present you with many challenges that can affect the rest of your life. It’s important that you remain strong and self-confident because only then will you be able to overcome them.
